The enemy is smart and adaptive...We must be smarter than the enemy. We must leverage all of our capabilities on the ground, in theater and here at home, to defeat the IED threat and protect our troops
Lt. Gen. Russel L. Honoré, US Army
It's not that we've solved the IED problem, per se. It's that we've begun to have success in defeating the insurgents
Fred Kagan, American Enterprise Institute, FMR West Point Instructor
It is an honor to welcome you to IDGA’s Second Annual Counter IED Summit.
This year our mission is to detail current efforts and developments in the field of
IED mitigation, prevention, and detection. In an increasingly complex and
asymmetric combat environment, ground operations are becoming increasingly
more necessary for mission success.
As our forces prosecute the asymmetric threat and try to “defeat the
network,” combat systems and technologies become more important to mission
success. This year’s keynotes and program sessions will outline objectives and themes in
the Joint Operating Environment that are allowing our soldiers to pursue and
prosecute the continuing threat posed by IEDs and the asymmetric infrastructure.
Need to know 2009 briefings will cover:
- C-IED efforts in the Joint Operating Environment (JOE)
- Military Operations in Urban Terrain (MOUT) training and preparedness
- The very latest in needs and requirements for IED mitigation and protection in an unclassified setting
- Warfighter insight and mission critical needs assessment
- Warfighter protection
